Cease temporary methods of hair removal

Stop all temporary methods of hair removal that involve plucking the hair or chemical destruction.

e.g. tweezing, waxing, threading, depilatories

These methods can cause the hair to break beneath the skin and contribute to ingrown hairs and other issues that may damage the skin further causing pitting or scarring in more extreme circumstances.

Gently Exfoliate Day Prior

Gentle exfoliation 24hrs in advance of your appointment removes the uppermost (dead) ayers of the epidermis and clears debris from in and around the follicle opening (ostium).

This will increase the ease of insertion and will allow treatment of additional hairs in a given session.

Shave 3-4 days in advance of Treatment

In order for a hair to be treated, it must be protruding from the skin surface.

If you do shave, please do so 3-4 days in advance of treatment to allow hair to grow to sufficient length.

Bottle of Retinol with dropper and gradient from white to rose.

Avoid Retinols & Chemical Exfoliants

Avoid Retinol-A and chemical exfoliants such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, etc.

These products increase skin sensitivity and will result in greater pain experience and increased skin reaction from the treatment.

No Exercise or Excessive Heat

Avoid exercise and excessive heat including hot baths/showers for 24 hours post treatment

High environment temperature, a pivotal factor in skin damage, can disrupt the wound’s ecological balance, provoke inflammation, and, ultimately, impede the healing process.

No Make-up or Heavy Creams

Refrain from applying to the treated area, for at least 24 hours post treatment.

Heavy makeup and creams sit on your skin and can clog pores and follicles.  Dirty makeup brushes and palettes are home to a variety of bacteria.

Avoiding these products allows the skin to heal and reduces the risk of irritation or infection.

Sunscreen in the shape of sun and rays on right back shoulder of person

Avoid the Sun/UV Rays for 48hrs

Minimize exposure to UV rays as they can cause further skin damage and delay healing.

Wear Sunscreen: If you must be in the sun, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to the treated area.

Allowing your skin to heal naturally on its own will contribute to optimal results.
